Salsa, Salsa and Margaritas in Mazatlan
Posted Wed, Sep 30th 2009, 18:09Ok! I know you are waiting with excitement to hear about my day making salsas, dancing the salsa and drinking marguerites. The wait is over and I am back from a rather long, hot, and humid but fun day. The setting was magnificent. The cooking class was setup by the swimming pool on the ocean side of the Las Flores Hotel. With marguerita in hand, we began making six different salsas. We started with the traditional Mexican Salsa and ended with Salsa Dulce (fruit salsa) with mango, apple, orange liquor, and coconut served over coconut ice cream. What a way to end the feast!
Then we danced---not very well but with lots of fun and many laughs. I now have the basic steps of the salsa. If only I could teach my husband to salsa! After many years of dancing together, I recently remarked that he had become a good dancer. His response, “I should be because you have been leading for over 20 years”! The truth—he is right, I just had not realized that he was following my lead. As only, a good husband should.
